This beautifully crafted decorative lidded hollow form serves as both an exquisite piece of art and a heartfelt memorial. This lidded hollow form is turned from Sassafras wood and features a Chechen ring and Osage Orange finiial. It has capacity of 18 cubic inches.  Sassafras is especially appreciated  for its delightful aroma and beautiful golden-brown hues, with subtle highlights of deeper browns and occasional lighter streaks. It is a deciduous tree native to eastern North America. thriving  in a variety of habitats, including moist, well-drained soils in forests, fields, and roadside areas.  Sassafras trees can regenerate from their root systems, enabling them to recover after selective cutting. This characteristic makes them more resilient to sustainable harvesting methods compared to some other tree species.

Unless otherwise noted, all lidded vessels/urns has an oil (either Tung, Linseed, or Walnut), Shellac, and wax finish.  This brings out the natural beauty of the wood and provides ease of care.

All dimensions are approximate.  Wood swells and contracts throughout the year depending on temperature and humidity.  While wood used for screw-on tops is stabilized to minimize seasonal movement, pressure fitted tops can fit tightly or loosely depending on conditions.  We recommend gluing the top (with a couple of drops of CA super glue) if you wish to ensure a top fitting cap that will not lift off easily regardless of the time of the year.  We do not recommend using the finial as a handle, not only are they delicate, but a pressured fit - even with a couple of  drops of glue - can easily dislodge.

For precise measurements, it’s always good to consult with a crematory service or a funeral professional providing cremation services.   While we sell a variety of urn sizes, most hollow forms can only accommodate partial ash remains and are commonly used for sharing ash remains of loved one.    

Used urns may not be returned under any circumstances. As soon as cremains enter the urn, the urn is considered used.
